Not a big fan of FOX News, but I agree with their point: Japanese people do not comprehend adoption in their daily lives (linked article below: dated March 21, 2011).When I first arrived in Japan and explained that I am Japanese-American and adopted, they had no idea what to do with that information. It is truly a foreign concept and Japanese people would much rather search for a distant relative before sending "their" children to live in another country. Read the article - and please comment.
